Ibrox Stadium

Ibrox which is located on the south side of the river Clyde is the third largest stadium in the whole of Scotland having a capacity of 50,987.

 It was first opened as Ibrox park in 1899 but when a wooden terrace collapsed in 1902 earthen terraces were built in its place and the main stand which was not built until 1928.






Then after the Ibrox disaster in 1971 the stadium was largely rebuilt. The bowl shaped terracing was adapted into three rectangular all seated stands and this was done by 1981, fully renovated by 1997 and renamed Ibrox stadium.












The record attendance is 118,567 and that was against Celtic in 1939

Ibrox shares Glasgow with Hampden which is scotlands national stadium, Celtic park and Firhill which is Partick thistles home ground
